Differences Between Recruitment And Selection

Recruitment and selection both components are parts of employment process. They come in sequence. It means, selection begins after the completion of recruitment process. They are equally important for effective selection and placement of employees. They are interrelated with each other and they complement as well as supplement each other. 

Differences between recruitment and selection are as follows:

1. Recruitment: It is a process of searching candidates. 
Selection: It is a process of choosing the best qualified candidate.

2. Recruitment: It is a positive process as it attracts many people to apply for the job.
Selection: It is a negative process as it rejects most of the under qualified and misfit candidates.

3. Recruitment: It is performed before selection.
Selection: It is performed after recruitment.

4. Recruitment: There will be no contract between employees and employers.
Selection: There is employment contract between employees and employers.

5. Recruitment: It is a short process.
Selection: It is a lengthier process.

6. Recruitment: It provides information for vacancies.
Selection: It matches candidates with the organizational jobs.

7. Recruitment: It is easy and low costly process.
Selection: It is complex and costly process.
